The Battle for Your Identity

Have you ever felt under attack, not physically, but spiritually and emotionally? Have you ever had someone question who you are at your core, causing you to second guess the identity God gave you? If you have, you are not alone.

Today’s Monday Motivation is about protecting your identity and understanding the tricks of the enemy.

Recently, I had a family member attack my character. They questioned my love for family—the very foundation upon which I have built my life, my business, and my mission. At first, my heart raced. My natural reaction was to fire back. But through prayer, discipline, and spiritual maturity, I chose not to react—I chose to respond.

In fact, after taking a breath and reading the full message, I realized something powerful: it did not even deserve a response. Some attacks are simply tricks of the enemy designed to pull you out of your purpose. Not every comment needs your energy. Not every fight is yours to fight.

A Biblical Reminder

In Matthew 3:13-17, Jesus was baptized and publicly affirmed by God Himself:

"This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased."

Immediately after that powerful affirmation, Matthew 4 tells us that Jesus was led into the wilderness to be tempted. And what was the first thing the enemy said?

"If you are the Son of God..."

Catch that. The very first attack was against His identity. God had just declared who Jesus was, and the enemy came straight for that declaration.

It is the same with us. When God affirms you, when you step into your purpose, do not be surprised when the enemy tries to make you question it.

Lessons for Every Big Dreamer

Expect Disruption: When you intend to do something great, expect resistance. It is confirmation you are on the right path.

Recognize the Trick: The enemy's favorite tactic is to attack your identity. Doubt, insecurity, and fear are weapons designed to slow you down.

Respond, Do Not React: Emotional reactions feel good in the moment but leave you empty. Spiritual responses, however, bring peace and keep you aligned with your purpose.

Stay Rooted in God's Word: Just like Jesus responded with Scripture, you must root your identity in what God says about you—not in what others say.

We Are In This World, But Not Of It

The enemy tempted Jesus with all the kingdoms of the world, offering Him what was his to give. This shows us something vital: the enemy holds dominion over the kingdoms of this world, but these treasures are not our ultimate prize. We are here to fulfill a purpose. To serve God. To walk in light. To build something that glorifies Him, not ourselves. Material things will fade. Titles will fade. But your identity in Christ is eternal.

Final Thoughts

When people attack you, question your calling, or mock your dreams, pause and recognize the trick. Pray before you respond. And remember who you are in the eyes of God. Do not let the enemy steal your identity. You were called for a purpose. You were affirmed by the Creator of the Universe. Move accordingly. And if today you are carrying a heavy burden, give it to God. His yoke is easy, and His burden is light. You do not have to carry that weight alone. Stay blessed, stay focused, and remember, the work is always working, even when you cannot see it.

Stay blessed, big dreamers. Your breakthrough is on the way.
