You’re Not Behind, You’re Being Prepared

Updated: Jan 20

“To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.”  — Ecclesiastes 3:1

I’m going to be honest — this is a feeling I know very well. Not once. Not twice. Often.

There are seasons where the work is happening, but the results aren’t showing up yet. Where the effort feels invisible. Where back pay is still backed up. Where progress feels delayed even though you know you’re moving.

And knowing that “the work is working on you, even if it’s not working for you yet” doesn’t always make the feeling disappear.

What I’ve learned is this: you still have to get up. You still have to breathe. You still have to move. You still have to flow.

Because when everything feels like it’s piling on — money tight, business slow, family pressure — you really have two options:

You can obsess over everything that’s going wrong. Or you can say, thank you for the capacity to even carry these problems.

If I didn’t have a house, I wouldn’t have house problems. If I didn’t have a family, I wouldn’t have family pressure. If I didn’t have a calling, I wouldn’t feel this weight.

Negativity is easy. Blame is easy. But growth requires accountability.

One of the biggest lessons I learned in my lowest seasons came after I stopped obsessing and started reflecting — that clarity shows up when you look back. That’s where rules and constants are born. Rules based on numbers, logic, and what actually makes sense.

Preparation seasons teach you how to chunk things down. Especially when your time feels tied directly to your money.

That’s why one of my biggest objectives is learning how to disconnect time from income — not by wishing, but by building systems.

Through all of it, three things have to stay alive:

  • Faith — knowing you still have a seed inside you

  • Creativity — staying connected to who you are

  • Execution — moving even when it feels slow

Because here’s the truth: You can’t connect the dots while you’re in it. You only understand later.

If you’re feeling behind right now — that’s normal. Feel the feels. Go through it.

Just don’t stop moving. You won’t know unless you go. And you won’t grow unless you go through.

BRAND MAN TIP OF THE DAY

Preparation Seasons Sharpen Execution

In business, delays are often misunderstood. They’re not punishment, they’re refinement.

Preparation seasons teach you:

  • What not to do

  • What numbers matter

  • What rules protect you

  • What systems you need

Execution gets sharper when pressure forces clarity.

Don’t rush the market. Build capacity first.

ACTIONABLE MOVE:

Create one non-negotiable rule in your business this week:

  • A pricing rule

  • A time rule

  • A delivery rule

Rules protect momentum. Momentum prepares you for opportunity.
